Why We Built a 1500W Infrared Heater for Your Gazebo
If you’ve ever tried using a regular space heater in a gazebo, you know the struggle. You turn it on, it works for a second, and then a light breeze comes along and carries all that warm air right over your head. It’s frustrating. That’s why we stopped trying to heat the air and started heating you. We use short-wave infrared technology. Instead of fighting the wind, these 1500W units send energy straight to solid objects. Your skin, your clothes, the patio chair you’re sitting in—they all soak up the heat directly. It feels like standing in the sun on a crisp autumn day. The best part? You don’t have to sit around waiting for the “room” to warm up. The second you flip the switch, you feel it. It’s instant. To make this work, we use quartz heating elements. We chose quartz because it doesn’t soak up the heat itself; it lets the infrared rays pass right through the tube and head straight for the floor. We also tucked the elements into a reflective housing, which basically acts like a mirror, bouncing any stray heat back down where it belongs. Now, a quick heads-up on the electrical side. These things pull a constant 1.5kW. Most of them run on standard 110V-220V plugs, but if you’re planning to put three or four of these in one gazebo, keep an eye on your breaker. You don’t want to be sitting in the dark and cold because you overloaded the circuit in the middle of January. When it comes to hanging them, height is everything. If you mount the heater too high, the heat loses its punch before it reaches you. Too low, and you’re basically sitting under a heat lamp, which gets uncomfortable fast. We’ve found the sweet spot is between 2.2 and 2.5 meters. That gives you a nice, wide blanket of warmth without feeling like you’re being toasted.
