Most glass bending setups start the same way: you buy a handful of infrared lamps, wire them up by hand, and just hope the heat hits the glass evenly. If you’re doing a few pieces a day, that’s fine. But when you’re trying to scale up? That’s where things get messy. It becomes a bottleneck that slows everything down. That’s why we stopped just selling the parts and started building full heating modules instead.
The Headache of Temperature Control
Glass is picky. If your thermal gradients are off, you get stress fractures. Simple as that. The problem with single lamps is that if your spacing is off by even a few millimeters, you get “hot spots.” It’s a nightmare to calibrate. We solved this by locking several shortwave IR elements into one solid chassis. Because the distance from the lamp to the glass is fixed, you don’t have to worry about manual installation errors. It just works.
Why Modules Beat Components
Let’s be honest: wiring individual lamps is a chore. It’s tedious, it takes forever, and those terminals are prone to failing. Our modules come pre-wired. You plug them into your power rail and you’re done. No more worrying about voltage drops because your cables are too long. One thing to keep in mind: we use high-wattage densities to get the glass to its softening point faster. It’s efficient, but it puts a real load on your electrical panel. Just make sure your breakers and contactors can handle the inrush current during a cold start, otherwise, you’ll be flipping the switch back on more than once.
Getting Your Time Back
Think about how much time you’ve spent on a ladder, squinting and trying to align tubes. It’s a waste of a workday. We built the reflectors and mounting brackets right into the module. It’s a drop-in replacement. You save a ton of man-hours, and you don’t have to worry about lamps burning out because the mounting tension was too tight or too loose. And if a tube does fail? You don’t have to spend the afternoon recalibrating the whole furnace. You just swap the module or the specific element and get the line moving again.
